Storage Container FAQs
What surface do I need to place a storage container on?
Storage containers can be placed on concrete, asphalt, compacted gravel, or even level ground. For long-term placement, we recommend a level surface with good drainage. Railroad ties or concrete blocks under the corners can help keep the container level and allow airflow underneath to prevent moisture buildup.
What is the difference between new and used storage containers?
New (one-trip) containers have made a single voyage from the factory and are in near-perfect condition with minimal cosmetic wear. Used containers may have dents, surface rust, and paint wear, but are fully wind and water-tight. Used containers are a great budget-friendly option when appearance is not a priority.
Do I need a permit for a storage container on my property?
Requirements vary by municipality. Many residential areas allow temporary container placement (30-180 days) without a permit during renovations. Permanent placement typically requires a building or zoning permit. Check with your local code enforcement office, and our team can help you navigate the process.
Can I add shelving, lighting, or ventilation?
Yes. We offer a range of add-on options including heavy-duty steel shelving, solar-powered LED lighting, turbine roof vents, louvered wall vents, and ramp systems. These accessories can be factory-installed before delivery or added later. Ask about our storage accessory packages when you request a quote.
